Blandair Regional Park Observations

As a resident of Columbia for 37 years now I have seen many changes, most of them were good.  I have always been grateful for Jim Rouse’s foresight in keeping open spaces and preserving natural beauty.  We now have this very unique situation in that there are 300 acres of undeveloped land right here in the center of town.

This is land that hasn’t been disturbed for hundreds of years.  Do we really want to bulldoze the trees and pave paradise?  Once we have done this and put in the bleaches, baseball diamonds, lights and parking lots we’ll never get it back.

Isn’t there some way that we can preserve it as a beautiful natural area accessible by paths, benches and gardens?  Our future generations would be the beneficiaries.

Let’s think about it.

Respectfully,
