Many kids head back to school this week, which makes it the perfect time to talk about the school year. Ask them how they think this school year will be different than last.

Most kids really do want to share their school experiences, they just need a little prompting from open-ended questions.

Scott, our 8-year-old was excited about learning cursive writing, wants to visit the local ice cream factory on a field trip, and thinks school would be more fun if there was no homework. If he get the ice cream factory trip, I’m definitely chaperoning that one.
