The Woman Card in Politics

9:54 am Current Events

On the Today Show Friday morning, Barack Obama appeared to defend himself, having been all but accused of attacking Democratic frontrunner Hillery Clinton becasue she’s a woman. Obama responded “I am assuming and I hope that Senator Clinton wants to be treated like everybody else. And I think that that’s why she’s running for president.”

The whole thing made me think about kids and how they see their differences. Mt son, for example, describes people of different races by the tonal quality of their skin. For example, he’ll describe his friend, Miles, as “a tall boy with brown skin and a happy smile.” So I asked him do you think boys and girls are treated differently at school? Is this OK? When is it appropriate to treat people differently?
