First Super Bowl
January 15, 2008 10:53 pm Current EventsToday is the Anniversary of the first Super Bowl, having been played between the Green Packer and the Kansas City Chiefs in 1967 at the L.A. Colosseum. The Packers won that one, by the way, 35 to 10, and their quarterback, Bart Star was the MVP of the game. It was the only Super Bowl to have been broadcast on two TV networks, CBS and NBC. At the time of the merger between the AFL and the NFL, NBC held the TV rights to the AFL and CBS held the rights to the NFL, so both broadcasted the game. Tickets to the game were $12, and while 61,946 people attended, it was not a sell-out. In contrast, tickets to this year’s Super Bowl run around $600 at face value, but you’d likely pay several thousand to attend the game.
